Automated Drone System Improves Security of Vital PLTU Areas through 24/7 Real-Time Patrols

Jakarta, Indonesia — Steam Power Plants (PLTU) are critical infrastructure that require intensive supervision to maintain operational continuity and area security.

The complexity of space, limited number of personnel, and the need for optimal visibility at night make it increasingly important to apply modern monitoring technology.

One technology that is widely used in vital areas is the DJI Dock 3 automatic system, which operates together with the DJI Matrice 4TD thermal drone. This system is designed to carry out air patrols independently, both scheduled and emergency response, thus providing a more responsive level of security compared to conventional patrol methods.

24/7 Automated Security Patrol

In field tests, drones are flown automatically to monitor important zones such as office areas, warehouses and production facilities. This approach increases area visibility while reducing the risk of personnel entering dangerous areas.

Optimal Supervision in Low Light Conditions

The drone unit is equipped with Near-Infrared (NIR) Auxiliary Light which allows clear images to be taken even when the area is in low lighting conditions. At a height of around 80 meters with 12× zoom, the system proved its ability to provide sharp nighttime visuals.

Thermal Detection for Non-Visual Identification

The thermal camera on the Matrice 4TD is capable of detecting heat anomalies in humans, vehicles and other non-visual objects. This feature is very effective for intruder identification, monitoring completely dark areas, and inspecting situations covered by fog or smoke

High Zoom for Detail Identification

With zoom capabilities up to 64×, the system allows vehicle number plate reading and detailed observation from a safe distance. This feature increases investigative capabilities as well as the accuracy of monitoring suspicious activity.

AI Recognition and Real-Time Notifications

AI technology is able to recognize the presence of people and vehicles from a patrol height of around 100 meters, with a detection range of up to 300 meters. Each detection is automatically processed into a real-time notification sent to security personnel’s dashboards and emails, ensuring rapid response to potential threats.
