PT Perkebunan Nusantara III (Persero) as Holding PTPN Group expressed its deep concern over the floods, landslides and eruption of Mount Semeru which hit a number of areas in Aceh, North Sumatra and East Java. This disaster had a significant impact on the surrounding community as well as some employees in the company’s work area.
As a form of concern and social responsibility, PTPN Group moved quickly to provide emergency assistance and activated disaster management posts at various affected points. To date, 10 aid posts have been established to reach more than 250,000 affected residents. The aid distributed includes basic food packages, blankets, family equipment, needs for mothers and children, mattresses, rain coats, and assistance for the elderly.
Distribution of aid was carried out in various areas, including Medan, Central Tapanuli, South Tapanuli, Deli Serdang, Langkat, Mandailing Natal, Langsa, East Aceh, North Aceh, to Lumajang which was affected by the Semeru eruption. Despite facing obstacles in the field such as cut off road access, damaged bridges, communication network disruptions, and extreme weather, PTPN Group continues to ensure that aid distribution runs smoothly through active coordination with BPBD, TNI/Polri, local governments, and other related agencies.
President Director of PTPN III (Persero), Denaldy Mulino Mauna, said that PTPN Group will continue to accompany the community until conditions recover. “We express our deepest condolences to all disaster victims. This situation emphasizes the role of the PTPN Group to be present and provide real support for the community. We are committed to continuing to coordinate with the authorities and ensuring that all aid is distributed on target,” he said.
Denaldy added that the values โโof care and solidarity are important principles that PTPN Group always upholds in carrying out social and environmental responsibilities. “We want to ensure that the people around our operational areas do not face difficult times alone. PTPN Group will continue to map needs and prepare further assistance according to developments in conditions in the field,” he added.
PTPN Group also carries out regular monitoring of developments in disaster management to ensure the effectiveness of assistance and support the long-term recovery process. The company emphasizes its commitment to continue to be present, help ease the burden on victims, and ensure the safety of the community and employees in all operational areas.
