Celebrate the 80th Anniversary, KAI North Sumatra submit 8 tons of rice to the orphanage in Medan

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Regional Division I North Sumatra celebrates the 80th Anniversary by holding various social and environmental activities. In the series of Family Gathering events at the North Sumatra Divre I office on Saturday (9/20), KAI North Sumatra handed over 8 tons of rice aid worth Rp116.8 million to a number of orphanages in the city of Medan and planting tree seedlings in the work environment.

This rice assistance is part of the Social and Environmental Responsibility Program (TJSL) KAI Divre I of North Sumatra, with the hope of helping the sustainability of the nation’s children in the orphanage. Meanwhile, the activity of planting tree seedlings is a form of company consistency in maintaining environmental sustainability, reducing carbon traces, and strengthening KAI’s commitment as a transportation company that go green and sustainable.

At the same moment, KAI North Sumatra also launched the 365 Days Movement Challenge program which was attended by more than 1,400 North Sumatra Divre I employees. Through this program, each participant is challenged to do well-being activities in the form of walking or running at least 3 km every day for a full year. This program aims to maintain the fitness of workers so that they can support the improvement in the quality of railroad services in North Sumatra.

“This activity is a form of gratitude for the achievement and existence of KAI in providing services to customers,” said Vice President of KAI Divre I of North Sumatra, Sofan Hidayah.

He added, the series of KAI Anniversary was at the same time an expression of the company’s gratitude to all workers who had dedicated their energy and time to make PT KAI as the World Class Operator. Sofan hopes that this activity can be a refreshment for workers as well as a reminder that the company’s performance today will determine feedback in the future.

The 80th Anniversary of KAI this year carries the theme “increasingly serving”, which reflects the spirit of sustainable innovation, unlimited travel in presenting the best service, as well as real contributions in connecting the dreams of millions of Indonesian people.

Specifically, KAI Divre I North Sumatra raised the sub -theme “Keep going for a Greener Future” as a commitment to continue to green the railroad in North Sumatra, in line with KAI’s vision: mobilizing sustainable transportation, improving the quality of life of the community.
