KAI Logistics continues to strengthen and optimize the train mode as a mainstay alternative mode for business actors, one of which is through the Container Train service. At the beginning of the year, KAI Logistics recorded a volume of 222 thousand tons or a significant growth of 44% compared to the same period in 2025 or 154 thousand tons.

VP of Corporate Secretary KAI Logistik, Dwi Wulandari, said “One of the reasons for this increase in volume is driven by distribution flows approaching religious strategic momentum which influences production increases in various industrial sectors. The increase is predicted to continue until March 2026,” continued Dwi.

The company is optimistic that the railway mode is increasingly popular and trusted by business actors with a number of advantages. Moreover, the issue of sustainability has increasingly become a focus in industry which has also encouraged the choice of more sustainable modes such as trains with emissions that are much lower than those of other land modes. Now, business actors can find out the amount of emissions produced by shipping using the train mode. This information is listed on each customer invoice.

“In preparing for the transition to implementing the ODOL policy which will be implemented in 2027, the Container Train service is able to become an alternative mode option. Apart from its large transport capacity, the train mode also has fast travel times and scheduled trips so that it is able to encourage overall supply chain management efficiency,” continued Dwi.

Container train services are one of the superior services. This service allows delivery in various media such as 20 and 40 feet containers, high cube containers, to reefer containers (Refrigerated Containers) for perishable commodities. To ensure the reliability of perishable commodity deliveries, KAI Logistics also provides plug-in facilities for electrical energy supply, thereby enabling the reefer container temperature to be maintained during the transit process at the goods terminal.

Furthermore, halal certification has also become part of the Container Train service, where goods terminals including Sungai Lagoa Jakarta, Klari Karawang, Ronggowarsito Semarang and Kalimas Surabaya have been halal certified. This is also an added value for Container Train services to ensure the fulfillment of sharia compliance guarantees for customers, especially in the halal industrial sector such as food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) products.
