Aceh Tamiang, 12 January 2026 – The Ministry of Public Works (PU)’s commitment to restoring basic post-disaster services in Aceh Tamiang Regency is increasingly showing real results. Through the drilled well construction program at 24 strategic points, access to clean water that was once cut off has now gradually been restored, bringing hope and convenience to the community.
One proof of the success of this program is the drilled well which has been operating and is being used directly by the community at Simpang Lhee Mosque, Manyak Payed District. With a depth of 82 meters, this well has become a new source of life, ensuring the availability of clean water for worship purposes at the mosque as well as the daily needs of local residents.
The Minister of Public Works, Mr Dody Hanggodo, emphasized that providing access to clean water is a top priority in the post-disaster recovery process. “Recovery does not only focus on rehabilitating physical infrastructure, but what is most important is restoring community access to basic needs, especially clean water. This is the foundation for health, comfort and continuity of community socio-religious activities to revive,” stressed Minister Dody.
The presence of this drilled well was welcomed with gratitude by the community, who have been facing great difficulty getting clean water. Now, ablution activities, mosque cleanliness, and household domestic needs can return to normal.
“Thank God, the water is flowing smoothly. Congregants can carry out their worship more calmly and solemnly. Local residents also feel the benefits, no longer having to queue in the heat looking for water. Hopefully this facility can be maintained and useful for a long time,” said Mrs. Aisyah Rahmi, a resident of Manyak Payed, who felt the positive impact directly.
