AIIP Launches Whitepaper “Accelerating AI Adoption in Indonesia: Encouraging Ecosystem Collaboration to Accelerate National AI Adoption”

Today, the Artificial Intelligence Institute for Progress (AIIP) officially launched a whitepaper entitled “Accelerating AI Adoption in Indonesia”, a strategic document that maps opportunities, challenges and collaborative steps to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in Indonesia.

The launch of this whitepaper provides important momentum amidst increasingly fierce competition for AI development in the Southeast Asia region. Countries such as Singapore and Malaysia have invested heavily in national strategies and AI infrastructure, while Indonesia has major advantages in its large human capital and growing digital adoption rates.

This white paper emphasizes that accelerating AI adoption is not only related to economic growth, but also to national interests, global competitiveness, and Indonesia’s long-term resilience in the digital era.

“The current AI competition is no longer conceptual. This is a real competition that demands ecosystem readiness, cross-sector collaboration, and clear policy direction,” said Nezar Patria, Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital of the Republic of Indonesia, at the launch of the AIIP whitepaper.

Collaboration as Key

AIIP emphasized that the success of AI adoption in Indonesia cannot be achieved by one party alone. This whitepaper is designed as a shared guide for:

1. Industry, to develop and implement relevant and market-ready AI solutions

2. Investors, in supporting the scalability of AI innovation

3. Academics, in preparing future digital talents

4. Government, as a facilitator that balances innovation, ethics, accountability and public trust

“AIIP exists as a collaborative platform. This white paper is not just a document of thought, but a concrete invitation to move together,” said Ray Djajadinata, Program Director of AIIP.

Strategic Recommendations for Indonesia

As part of its policy contribution, the AIIP whitepaper recommends a number of strategic steps, including developing an integrated national AI adoption framework, strengthening cross-sector collaborative ecosystems, increasing digital talent capacity, and focusing on high-impact AI use cases that can be widely replicated in the public and private sectors.

With a focused and collaborative approach, AIIP believes AI can be a catalyst for inclusive, productive and sustainable transformation, while strengthening Indonesia’s position as an important player in the regional and global AI landscape.

It is hoped that the whitepaper “Accelerating AI Adoption in Indonesia” can become a strategic reference for policy makers, industry players, investors and academics in designing concrete steps to accelerate national AI adoption.
