Serious about reducing accidents, KAI Daop 7 Madiun carries out 115 road safety outreach throughout 2025

In order to improve the safety of train travel and reduce the risk of accidents at level crossings, KAI Daop 7 Madiun throughout 2025 has carried out 115 safety outreach activities to the public. This activity was held massively and sustainably in various districts and cities crossed by the railway line in the Daop 7 Madiun working area.

This socialization was spread across a number of regions, including Madiun City (3 times), Madiun Regency (10 times), Ngawi Regency (16 times), Kediri Regency (27 times), Kediri City (25 times), Jombang Regency (5 times), Blitar Regency (9 times), Tulungagung Regency (4 times), Magetan Regency (3 times), and Nganjuk Regency (13 times).

The implementation of socialization activities is carried out almost evenly throughout the year, with details: January 12 times, February 11 times, March 11 times, April 10 times, May 12 times, July 12 times, August 4 times, September 14 times, October 16 times, and November 13 times.

KAI Daop 7 Madiun Public Relations Manager, Tohari, explained that this socialization activity was part of KAI’s commitment to building a safety culture with the community, especially road users who cross level crossings.

“Safety at level crossings is not only KAI’s responsibility, but also requires awareness and discipline of all road users. Through regular and massive outreach, we hope that the public will increasingly understand the importance of obeying signs, signals, and prioritizing train travel,” said Tohari.

Tohari further added that the safety outreach activities were carried out through cross-stakeholder synergy, namely with the train lover community, the Transportation Service, the Republic of Indonesia Police, as well as involving students from the Indonesian Railway Polytechnic (PPI) Madiun.

It is hoped that this collaboration can strengthen the safety message while reaching wider levels of society.

Currently, the Daop 7 Madiun area has 216 level crossings, which stretch from the boundaries of Blitar, Jombang, to Walikukun. Of this number, 212 points are official crossings and 4 are unofficial crossing points.

If viewed from the guard aspect, there are 185 guarded crossings and 31 unguarded crossings.

The guarded level crossings consist of 89 points guarded by the district/city Transportation Service, 76 points guarded by KAI, and 20 points guarded independently by the community. Meanwhile, 31 other points are still not guarded.

Tohari continues to urge the public to always stop for a moment, look left and right, and ensure safe conditions before crossing a level crossing, for the sake of mutual safety. He also invited all stakeholders to continue to work together in efforts to improve the safety of train travel and road users.
