KAI North Sumatra Holds E-Sports Tournament 2025, comes closer to the digital generation in the 80th Anniversary series

In commemoration of the 80th Anniversary with the theme “increasingly serving”, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Regional Division I of North Sumatra held the 2025 KAI E-Sports Tournament in Kupi Railway, Medan City, Sunday (28/9). This event is a forum for healthy and positive competition for the digital generation, which is also the backbone of KAI customers in the future.

Vice President of KAI Divre I SU, Sofan Hidayah, expressed his appreciation to all participants who were dominated by young people. According to him, this activity is not only part of the KAI anniversary celebration, but also a form of company support for the development of e-sport sports in Indonesia.

“We hope that this tournament can give birth to the seeds of e-sport athletes who are able to compete at the national and international levels. Congratulations on competing, upholding sportsmanship, and making Indonesian e-sports more advanced,” Sofan said.

This E-Sport tournament was held simultaneously in 17 cities in Java and Sumatra with a total prize of Rp2.5 million for the 1st place, Rp1.5 million for 2nd place, and Rp1 million for 3rd place. In Divre I SU, as many as 43 teams with five members each participated in this competition.

Through this activity, Kai wants to arouse enthusiasm, strengthen cohesiveness, while introducing railroad services to the digital generation.

KAI understands the majority of customers today and in the future comes from a generation that grows with digital technology. Internal data shows that around 85% of KAI users are generations X, Y, and Z.

“KAI is committed to presenting data-based services and digital innovations, ranging from ticket reservations to community activities such as this tournament. Hopefully the KAI E-Sports Tournament will be a concrete step in building closeness with digital generations full of ideas and positive energy,” concluded Sofan.
