KAI Daop 1 Jakarta Invites the Young Generation of Pancasila University to Build a Culture of Discipline at Level Crossings

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operational Area 1 Jakarta collaborates with Pancasila University in socializing safety activities at level crossings as an effort to increase public awareness and concern, especially the younger generation, regarding the importance of safe travel for trains and road users.

This activity was carried out at the JPL 78 Bekasi level crossing involving Pancasila University students. Socialization is carried out through the display of banners and direct communication to road users regarding safety rules at level crossings, including the provisions of Law Number 23 of 2007 concerning Railways, Article 124 which confirms that at level intersections between railway lines and roads, road users are obliged to give priority to train travel.

Public Relations Manager for KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, Franoto Wibowo, said that the involvement of the younger generation has a strategic role in building a culture of discipline and safety at level crossings.

“The younger generation currently shows high concern for safety at level crossings. We hope that this concern can continue to grow and be realized in disciplined behavior, as well as becoming an example and reminder for the wider community,” said Franoto.

He added that this activity is part of KAI’s ongoing efforts to reduce the potential for accidents due to violations at level crossings. It was recorded that from January 1 2026 to January 20 2026, there had been 4 violations at level crossings in the Daop 1 area of ​​Jakarta.

“Through education involving the younger generation, KAI hopes that public awareness will increase so that violations at level crossings can be reduced and the safety of trains and road users can continue to be maintained,” explained Franoto.

For information, to date in the Daop 1 Jakarta area there are a total of 435 level crossings, with details of 288 guarded crossings and 147 unguarded crossings.

KAI Daop 1 Jakarta continues to be committed to improving the safety of train travel through collaboration with various parties, including educational institutions, in order to foster a culture of order and traffic discipline at level crossings.
