Approaching the year-end holiday travel period and increasing public mobility, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operation Area (Daop) 2 Bandung is again appealing to all customers to pay attention to the provisions on luggage when using the train. This advice is given to maintain comfort, security and smooth service processes at stations and during travel.
KAI Daop 2 Bandung Public Relations Manager, Kuswardojo, explained that each customer has a maximum limit of luggage that can be brought into the train cabin. “KAI Daop 2 Bandung reminds us that luggage permitted in the cabin is a maximum size of 70 cm x 48 cm x 30 cm (100 dm³), with a maximum weight of 20 kilograms, and a maximum number of 4 bags per passenger,” said Kuswardojo.
Customers who bring goods exceeding these provisions will be subject to additional duties according to the train service class, namely:
– IDR 10,000 per kilogram for Executive class trains,
– IDR 6,000 per kilogram for Business class trains, and
– IDR 2,000 per kilogram for Economy class trains.
Kuswardojo added that there is a limit on the volume of luggage that cannot be tolerated for the sake of mutual safety and comfort. “Luggage whose volume exceeds 200 dm³ or the equivalent of 70 cm x 48 cm x 60 cm is not allowed to be carried into the train cabin. For goods that exceed this limit, we recommend that customers use an expedition delivery service such as KAI Logistik,” he explained.
Apart from the size and weight provisions, KAI Daop 2 Bandung also emphasizes a number of items that are not allowed to be carried as baggage, namely:
1. Animals;
2. Narcotics, psychotropics and other addictive substances;
3. Firearms and sharp weapons;
4. Surfboard;
5. Items that are flammable or explosive;
6. Items which smell foul, fishy, or which due to their nature can disturb/damage the health and comfort of other passengers,
7. Items which, in the officer’s opinion, in condition and size are inappropriate for carriage as baggage,
8. Goods that are prohibited by statutory regulations.
Kuswardojo appealed to customers to always look after their personal belongings while in the station area or on the train to avoid the risk of losing or confusing them.
“We are committed to providing the best service to customers, including ensuring that the cabin remains safe, orderly and comfortable for shared use. Therefore, we hope that customers can comply with these luggage provisions,” concluded Kuswardojo.
